Sheet masks are all the rage right now in the beauty world, but one sheet mask treatment can cost a pretty penny, and can even contain unlisted ingredients that can potentially irritate the skin. Never fear, Hippy Lovers! I would never share scary information without showing you how easy it is do-it-yourself! Today I'm sharing 3 of my favorite homemade sheet mask recipes that you can quickly and easily mix up for your friends and yourself! It's time for a spa day!
Sheet masks are dermatologist approved
Compared to face masks, which have been around since Cleopatra's time, sheet masks are relatively new to the beauty world. Though they started out as a Korean beauty trend, sheet masks have become popular around the world, with celebrities, and even with dermatologists. Sheet masks work as an occlusive — a physical barrier that seals your skin with a mixture of good-for-your-skin ingredients. Physician’s assistant Laura Dyer at Dr. Amy Wechsler Dermatology says, “The physical mask prevents the evaporation of beneficial ingredients.” Victoria Beckham’s dermatologist Harold Lancer explains that sheet masks “maximizes the treatment.” Think of a sheet mask as saturating your skin in a temporary but effective moisturizing sleeping bag of skincare, where good stuff gets in but nothing gets out.
Save TONS of money making it yourself
The cost of one single sheet mask can range anywhere from $3 all the way up to $18! I'd have to give up my coffee addiction, among other things, to be able to afford the daily use of sheet masks if I were purchasing them at the store! That's not acceptable to me! I started doing a bunch of research and found that you can easily buy 100 dry, non-woven cotton masks on Amazon for around $10! That is $.10 per mask! The ones that I picked out for myself, come compressed and individually packaged so that you can take them with you and easily sheet mask up at the airport, work, or even at your BFF's house.
