In the heat of the summer, I love a good cold bean salad. They're hardy, yet they don't make your body have to heat up too much digesting them. There are so many different combinations that you can do with bean salads too. This bean salad calls for taco seasoning, but you can also forgo that and use a balsamic vinegar and Italian seasons. You can try out a different taste and use a sesame dressing with this, though I do love a good pasta salad with sesame dressing. Continue reading “Sassy Southwest Black Bean Salad”
Make Your Own Watercolor Paints That Are NON-TOXIC
Watercolor paints were my favorite kind of paints to use as a child. I loved the wet mess that went along with painting with watercolors, but I never knew that you could make them yourself! Syfy and I took the opportunity to make up a batch of our own watercolors and had a blast painting with them! They were super easy to mix up and the colors the produce on paper is fantastic!

Brussels Sprouts That a Hater Loved
I was going to write about Non-Toxic watercolor paints today, but we are going to save that for tomorrow so that I can document Silas trying them out for the first time! Tonight's dinner was so amazing, I had to share the recipe with you! I have NEVER once in my entire life enjoyed eating Brussels sprouts. They have always had this bitter sort of flavor to them that made me want to cringe when even thinking about how I was going to approach this meal, this evening. Cilantro Lime Sweet Potatoes & Carrots, with Citrus Oven Baked Broccoli
This recipe is ALL my own. I Love sweet potatoes and I am always trying to find a new way to serve them. They are so delicious that right now, as we speak, I am frothing at the mouth! I decided to make a nice beta carotine mix with this and for better vitamin absorbency, I added lime. Who uses lime without cilantro (besides you weirdos that don't like cilantro!)? Of course I had to add cilantro and it turned out to be DELICIOUS paired with sweet potatoes and carrots. Continue reading “Cilantro Lime Sweet Potatoes & Carrots, with Citrus Oven Baked Broccoli”

Going Green With Your Laundry
Everyone has laundry to do. Some people do their own, while others do the whole household's laundry. I am fortunate to have a Husband that does his own laundry. I do the household, Silas, and my own laundry. It is so nice not to have to worry about an extra person's laundry! Continue reading “Going Green With Your Laundry”
Two Really Great No-Meat Burgers For The 4th of July Grill
The 4th of July is almost here and all that I can think of are burgers! I am a HUGE fan of grilling, even if it's for vegetables. Yeah, you heard me right. I LOVE TO GRILL VEGETABLES. It is NOT blasphemous, so you should quit thinking that immediately. I was a griller before I went vegetarian and I still make some of my best meals on it now, as a vegetarian! Grilling things, adds a whole new genre of flavor to your food. That's all there is to it. Continue reading “Two Really Great No-Meat Burgers For The 4th of July Grill”
EASILY Make Your Own Non-Toxic Finger Paints At Home
After buying a whole array of finger paints from Hobby Lobby, for Silas, and setting them all up, I realized there was this stench coming from them. It was a terrible chemical smell! The bottles say non-toxic but they most certainly don't smell like they're non-toxic. This situation made me realize that I could just make my own here at home. The best part is, I know what's in them. Continue reading “EASILY Make Your Own Non-Toxic Finger Paints At Home”
Black Bean Chili with Quinoa
Andy LOVES chili. When I make chili, he takes the entire batch to work and eats it over a weeks period of time, all by himself. I find that hilarious, as I was never big on chili before we became vegetarians. I never really liked the flavor of ground beef. It always grossed me out. (Ha!!!My senses knew from way back then to stay away from the “pink slime”!) Needless to say, Andy wanted me to find a vegetarian chili that he could fall in love with. This recipe here, is the one that he is in love with. He always asks me to make him chili, even in these HOT summer days. Continue reading “Black Bean Chili with Quinoa”
DIY Upholstery & Carpet Cleaner That’s WAY Better Than Resolve!
Yesterday I got my Lavender essential oil (that I ordered from Amazon) in the mail. I was so very excited to see the UPS truck pull up to the house, that I nearly knocked my son over in the process to get to the door! I really wanted something that smelled less antiseptic than the Tea Tree oil and vinegar do. As soon as I opened my package, I set about making up a new batch of my All Purpose cleaner, only I decided to get creative in the process. What came out of this recipe was surely worth the little amount of time I spent putting it together. Continue reading “DIY Upholstery & Carpet Cleaner That's WAY Better Than Resolve!”
