Hippy-Hoppy the Healthy Homemade Chocolate Easter Bunny

For many families across the United States, Easter is a holiday that is equated to lots of chocolate. Chocolate eggs, chocolate chicks, and most of all chocolate bunnies. As a child, my mother avoided most of the sugar that the rest of the kids around me got for Christmas and Easter. She did this by filling our stockings and Easter baskets with all sorts of little goodies we could use instead. For my child, I am trying to do a combination of what my own mother did for me as well as making sweet little goodies I know are healthy, with ingredients I trust. Gorgeous for Good Week One - 30 Days to a More Gorgeous Me From Skin to Soul

Last month I was contacted by one of the coolest green beauty ladies I know, New York Times best selling author and Hallmark Channel host, Sohpie Uliano, to help her promote her new book, “Gorgeous for Good”.  A “skin to soul” program that covers everything from healthy nutrition, natural skincare and beauty, to exercise and meditation. This 30 day program is meant to detox your body from head to toe, bringing out your natural beauty and keeping it, as you age gracefully. I was totally stoked that she even knew my blog, and was super excited to try out her program. Being an inspiration to me in the green living area, this was a prime chance to get to know one of my favorite green beauty experts! Reverse Skin Damage & Destroy Wrinkles with a DIY Hi-C Facial Serum

I am 31 years old, and just barely starting to think about how my skin and face will age. I am only now beginning to realize the damage that I did to my skin as a teenager and in my early 20's, and wishing I had used more sense. As we age, our collagen production starts to slow down, causing wrinkles and fine lines, but not only that, all of the cumulative damage we've done over the years, including sun damage, smoke, and harsh chemical products, can speed up the process and make it worse. It's not too late for some of us, using vitamin C, we can help to slow down the aging process and in many cases reverse some of the damage we've done to our skin! The Case for Ingestion - Is Ingesting Essential Oils Safe?

One of the most often talked about topics in aromatherapy is ingestion. Without naming brands, there is a plethora of unsafe advice floating around the internet and at meetings for some of the MLM brands of essential oils. Today we're going to talk about the safety of essential oil ingestion and some of the reasons why safety in aromatherapy is just as important as safety when working with any chemical, natural or synthetic. 30 Days of Hydration - How Drinking Enough Fresh Water Daily Changed My Life

Most of us are guilty of it. According to the Idaho-based Panhandle Health District, up to 75 % of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Even though our bodies NEED hydration, we ignore the feeling and continue to go about our busy lives, forgetting to drink that extra sip of water our body's been asking for all day long. The first thing I think in the morning is usually “coffee” not “water”. Continue reading “30 Days of Hydration - How Drinking Enough Fresh Water Daily Changed My Life”

There are many ways to beautify your skin, make your hair grow longer faster, and grow out strong beautiful nails, but they all entail healthy eating habits! STOP the DARK Act Now - It’s our right to know what’s in our food

Here on the Hippy Homemaker, I am always looking for the healthiest options to help keep our bodies fresh and fit year around. What we put into our bodies is one of the most important “healthy habits” that we can focus upon. That's why, when I found out about the “DARK Act” or Deny Americans the Right to Know Act, I was furious! This bill would not only preempt state efforts to label GMO's, it would make VOLUNTARY labeling the law of the land, permanently. That means, if the DARK Act passes, the fight for mandatory GMO labeling will be over! Continue reading “STOP the DARK Act Now - It's our right to know what's in our food”
