Mudmask & Mimosa Fridays - Mudmask Recipies To Start Your Own Club

STRESS! Seriously, I am entering my first Christmas Season in retail, my son's birthday is tomorrow, Thanksgiving is nearing, and my first craft fair, ever, is only in a matter of weeks. To say that I am not stressed out would be an understatement. For the most part, I have been so busy, that I haven't had the time to sit down and do my own mud masks once weekly like I am supposed to. I literally have to set an alarm to make sure I wash my face at least once a day. Sometimes, time just gets away from me, but not any longer! Out of desperation for more relaxation and socialization in my life, I came up with the idea for a weekly meet-up with my girlfriends that would take care of stress AND our faces skin. The Hippy Homemaker’s Green Cleaning Starter Kit - The Ultimate Green Friendly Wedding Present

I had the privilege of being invited to one of my long-time friend's wedding and reception this last weekend. Though we weren't able to go to Colorado to make the actual wedding, we were able to go to their reception dinner held here in Texas. When our invitation arrived in the mail, my first thought was “what to make them for their wedding present?”  For a little over a year now, I have made all of the gifts that I have given at the parties that I have been invited to.  Each time, I was invited to a new type of party (i.e. baby showers, bridal showers, and wedding receptions), I came up with a new DIY eco-friendly gifts that I could give. This time around was no different. Continue reading “The Hippy Homemaker's Green Cleaning Starter Kit - The Ultimate Green Friendly Wedding Present”

The BEST Homemade First Time Mom’s Kit! (or any new mother for that matter!)

It's springtime in the northern hemisphere and everyone around me is getting pregnant and having babies! It's that time of year for twitterpating and baby showers! The most recent baby shower that I attended, was thrown for a family friend and her impending little princess, Kirbi! I decided it was time that I put together a Hippy Homemaker Homemade First Time Mom's Kit and fill it full of homemade goodies that I figured she would need (and a couple gifts that weren't homemade but I still figured were needed!) The invitation that I received to this baby shower had a really cute owl on it, so I found adorable owl clothes pins at Michael's and used them to add a cohesive theme to my gift's look! Easter Basket Alternatives to Candy (and Syfy’s Waldorf Inspired Easter Basket!)

With Spring time officially here and Easter in a week, I decided to put together an Easter basket for Syfy that would help to also build up our Waldorf style homeschool classroom. I have NEVER been the kind of girl to put candy in Easter baskets or Christmas stalkings. When I was little, the memories that I have are the ones that my own Mother gave me by putting cute accessories,  jewelry,  gift cards, pencils, pencil tops/erasers, and other crafty little doowahickeys in our Easter baskets and stalkings. My sister and I always got really excited by this too! We didn't care that our friends were getting baskets full of candy because when their candy ran out, we knew that our sweet gifts would still be in use. Homemade Love For Silas Thor

In the spirit of the holiday season, I have been on a mission to come up with holiday traditions that keep that magic without the need for Santa Claus. Yes, you heard right. The Hippy Husband and I don't feel the need to propagate the Santa Claus myth in our household. I am aware that most of you think that I am crazy for not partaking in the “magic of Christmas” (believe me, I heard it from my own parents when we told them.) in our household. Homemade Holiday Scented Play Dough For The Little Ones In Your Life

I love playing with play dough. I have always been one of those artsy types of people; as a child, anything that my mom would suggest, that had to do with crafting, I was on board. Now, as a mom myself, I am always turning to the arts and crafts on those rainy days, and pretty much every day in between! One of Syfy's favorite things to do is play with play dough! What kid (or adult for that matter) doesn't like to mold and sculpt their every whim into playdough?  Continue reading “Homemade Holiday Scented Play Dough For The Little Ones In Your Life”

Make Your Own Holiday Gifts: Peppermint Laundry Soap in a Jar

Yep. I know it sounds crazy, but it's the gift that keeps on giving. Not only do you KNOW without a shadow of a doubt, that everyone needs laundry soap, you are giving them MUCH better homemade soap that is good for the environment and not toxic to you. Not only that, you can give them a little tag with the recipe on it, so that they can continue to make the soap long after they have used up your gift. Like I said, it's the gift that keeps on giving! Continue reading “Make Your Own Holiday Gifts: Peppermint Laundry Soap in a Jar”

Organic Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

I don't know how it is in your house, but in our house, our animals are just as much a part of the family as our own son is. Our dog Sirius is my son's best friend and brother. They spend all day long romping through our house together, always getting into things as two brothers would. It's only fair that I give gifts to him just like the rest of the family! Today, I made homemade organic doggy treats that are MUCH healthier than the ones you might buy in the grocery store or Petsmart, and they were MUCH cheaper to make too!
